INNOVATION FORWARD

Bodossaki Foundation and A.G. Leventis Foundation are implementing the programme “Innovation Forward”, launched at the initiative of Bodossaki Foundation in cooperation with Athroa Innovations and aimed at supporting and financing the process of protecting, through strong international patents, the intellectual property rights of researchers residing in Greece, with a view to their commercial and industrial exploitation.

“Innovation Forward” has evolved from an initial program for the protection the copyright of inventors and the registration of related patents, which the two Foundations have been supporting from 2018 to the present day, in cooperation with other public benefit Foundations. The programme’s ultimate goal is to strengthen the competitiveness of the national economy by supporting and financing innovation resulting from research and by supporting the availability of innovative products, solutions or services in the Greek and international markets.

Specifically, the programme involves the provision of technical and financial support to inventors –from the early stages of filing related applications until the finalisation the patent–, the protection of intellectual property in Greece, in the EU and globally, and its commercial exploitation through the development of marketable products and services, as well as by attracting industrial recipients of these products and services.

True to their commitment to promote creative scientific work, the two Foundations will subsidize the process concerning the registration of international patents by inventors, and will cover the cost of maintaining these patents for two years. Athroa Innovations will undertake, on behalf of inventors, the modalities involved in securing their intellectual property rights, and will fully support them in their subsequent commercial exploitation.

To participate in the programme, interested parties are invited to fill in the application form, which is provided as a file in Word format that can be found in the downloads section on the right-hand side of this page, and then submit the application electronically here.

Please read carefully the detailed instructions regarding the submission of applications, which is also to be found on the right-hand side of this the page.

Applications will be evaluated using the following criteria:

  • The economic, social and environmental impact of the problem the invention is intended to solve
  • The capability and effectiveness of the invention in solving this problem
  • The degree of innovation of the proposed invention
  • The estimated likelihood of legally securing the intellectual property rights on the invention, as well as the current stage of each invention’s progress in this respect, both nationally and internationally
  • The potential contribution of the registration of a patent to the commercial success of the invention.
