The Scientific Committee is a 9-member advisory body of the Foundation, which consists of personalities from the field of science and a representative of the Bodossaki Foundation.

The Scientific Committee has a central role in managing the Bodossaki Distinguished Young Scientist Awards. It makes recommendations to the Board regarding the scientific sectors in which Prizes should be awarded and submits proposals for the selection and announcement of nominees.

The current composition of the Foundation’s Scientific Committee is as follows:

  • Iannis Aifantis, Professor at the School of Medicine of New York University (NYU)
  • Theodora Varvarigou, Professor at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA)
  • Nikos Vettas, Professor at the Department of Economics of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) and Director General at the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE)
  • Georgios Kollias, Professor of Experimental Physiology at the Medical School of the University of Athens and Director of the Immunology Division at the “Alexander Fleming” Biomedical Sciences Research Center
  • Nancy Makri, Professor of Chemistry and Physics, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
  • Konstantinos Meghir, Professor at the Department of Economics of Yale University
  • Michael Triantrafyllou, Henry L. and Grace Doherty Professor of Ocean Science and Engineering at MIT, Director of the MIT Sea Grant College Program, Visiting Scientist Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution
  • Athanassios Fokas, Professor at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics of Cambridge University

Bodossaki Foundation is represented by Athina Dessypri, President of Bodossaki Foundation’s Board of Trustees, who can be substituded by Theodoros Theodorou, Professor at the School of Chemical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens, Vice President of Bodossaki Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
