From early on in his life, long before he settled in Greece, Mr Bodossakis became actively engaged in public benefit work. In 1919, he made a grant to the Municipality of Heraklion, Crete, to finance the construction of a school. The 2nd Primary School of Heraklion, Crete, is to this day still housed in the same building, named ‘Bodossakeio’ in honour of its benefactor.

The school building is a typical example of the architecture of its time, as the pioneering principles of modernism were already being followed in Heraklion at the time of its construction.
