Promoting education is a strategic priority for Bodossaki Foundation and the Scholarships programme is one of its earliest programmes. To date, more than 2,600 scholarships have been granted to assist outstanding students, either in their final year of studies or graduates, to follow postgraduate, doctoral and postdoctoral studies in Greece or abroad, in the academic fields of their choice.

Every year, two Scholarships programmes invite applications from interested candidates:

  • The regular Scholarships Programme (for postgraduate and doctoral studies)
  • The “Stamatis G. Mantzavinos” Memorial Postdoctoral Scholarships Programme.

The academic year 2024-2025 will be the second year of implementation for the Scholarships Programme for Scientific Research visits in universities or research centres outside of Greece for Scientists who live in Greece.

In 2024 the regular Masters and Doctoral Scholarship Programme completes 52 years of continuous support to young people hoping to pursue the studies of their dreams. The application period for the 52nd Scholarship Programme for Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies for the academic year 2024-2025 ended on February 15, 2024. The Programme is addressed to graduates or final year students from all Faculties and Departments of the University Sector of the Universities of Applied Sciences and offers approximately 60 scholarships for studies in Greece and abroad in 17 different scientific fields. The Foundation’s scholarships are now joined by scholarships funded by individuals who have been inspired by the Foundation’s vision and the dreams of young people and wish to see them become a reality. Thus, up to three of the scholarships that will be awarded this year for postgraduate studies in the field of Medicine/Biomedicine are ‘Elizabeth Fotiou Fotinelli – Ioannis Dimitriou Kritikos Scholarships’. Especially for Masters level studies in Canada, those who are interested are encouraged to apply to the scholarship programme offered by The Hellenic Initiative Canada (THI Canada) here. The scholarships of THI Canada cover tuition fees, living expenses, and additional support, ensuring a smooth transition to studying in Canada. The programme will also provide opportunities for students to develop skills, connections and experience that will allow them to lead successful careers and contribute to the future growth and prosperity in Greece.

As part of the ‘Stamatis G. Mantzavinos’ Postdoctoral Research Scholarships Programme, the Bodossaki Foundation, in line with its goal of promoting scientific research, announced for the 17th year running the award of four postdoctoral scholarships for the academic period 2024-2025. Four (4) scholarships for research in Greece or abroad over a period of two years will be granted to PhD holders, with the possibility of an extension of one more year. The deadline for submitting nominations ended on March 15, 2024.

With the new Scholarship Programme for Visiting Research Scientists, the Bodossaki Foundation is providing still greater support for scientific research, addressing research scientists, graduates of Higher Educational Institutions still studying or active in Greece and wishing to visit foreign university institutions or research centres in order to conduct research into scientific methodology, modern international research trends and technologies, or present and deliver lectures. The ultimate aim of the programme is for the experience and knowledge acquired to be transferred and disseminated among the Greek scientific community. The programme covers short-term scholarships, lasting up to 6 months, including accommodation and travel expenses. The application period for the new Visiting Scientist Fellowship Programme ended on March 29, 2024.
