The proposed project aims to harness the positive impacts of peer support by organizing and implementing an education and support camp specifically designed for women with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI). Reintegrating into the community and resuming roles held before the injury poses a significant challenge for individuals with SCI, making peer support crucial, particularly for women. Throughout the project implementation, activities focused on empowerment and support will be organized, featuring the active involvement of disabled trainers and support staff.
Target Groups:
Women with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), People with Disabilities, Healthcare Professionals, Students, and the General Public.
Activities:
- Organisation of a training Camp for Women with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) with the participation of 9 women in order to familiarize them with techniques that can improve their quality of life
- Training of professionals and students of health sciences on specific needs of women with SCI.
- Organisation of 2 public info days in Thessaloniki and Athens, attracting 130 participants (91 online and 39 in-person), including individuals with SCI, disability rights activists, healthcare professionals, and rehabilitation stakeholders.
- A documentary portraying participants’ daily experiences, challenges, and personal growth during the camp.
- Production of 3 podcasts capturing the reflections of both organizers and participants.
- Dissemination activities, including social media posts, a flyer, newsletter, press releases and publication of scientific article.
