With a focus on recognizing the importance of the of EU values and rights for the elderly, the primary objective of the project is to provide the elderly with the opportunity to understand their rights within the framework of the EU. This aims to enable them to more effectively access and utilize health services, ultimately contributing to the improvement of their physical and mental well-being. Additionally, the project aims to raise awareness among Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), relatives, and students in health professions, particularly regarding issues of equal treatment.

Target Groups: 

The direct target group of the project consists of elderly people (people aged 65 and over). The indirect target group includes:

  1. Civil Society Organizations
  2. Υoung people caring for elderly relatives
  3. Students or healthcare professionals
  4. The general public

Activities:

  • Creation of an educational toolkit titled “EU Values and Rights and Their Application in Access to Healthcare,” based on adult learning principles with relatable examples on how to exercise healthcare rights in practice.
  • The creation of a digital interactive platform to support older adults in accessing primary healthcare e-services (e.g., e-prescriptions, online appointments).
  • Six in-person training workshops were conducted in remote areas n Imathia (Rizomata, Georgiani, Agios Georgios) and in Kastoria (Argos Orestiko, Nestorio, Kastoria), engaging a total of 124 older adults,
  • An additional workshop was delivered to 90 physiotherapy students at the University of Thessaly focusing on healthcare rights and the specific needs of older adults.
  • Awareness-raising activities featuring participant stories and testimonies including 4 articles, 3 educational videos, 1 podcast, and coordinated social media campaigns using posters and infographics.
  • Transnational exchange of best practices in Rome between Greek stakeholders and the Italian association Cittadinanzattiva APS, including the Active Citizenship Network. Discussions centered on the European Charter of Patients’ Rights and the protection of older people.
