Support of the “Open Door” Centre

The “Open Door” Centre is a modern education and rehabilitation facility for persons with cerebral palsy, serving 240 persons of all ages on a daily basis. It offers innovative programmes covering education and training, the provision of medical, therapeutic, social and psychological services, work placement services, self-supported living care services and cultural and artistic personal development.

Bodossaki Foundation, in recognition of the Centre’s long and successful track record and growing needs, has supported Cerebral Palsy Greece with a donation that enabled it to purchase a specially configured bicycle and also contributed an amount for the purchase and installation of an external lift for persons with disabilities.

The improvement of the physical condition and health of the people in the Centre’s care, the modernisation of its building facilities and its alignment with the applicable safety standards – both in the daily movement of the persons in the Centre’s care as well as in the event of an evacuation due to an emergency – are key objectives for Cerebral Palsy Greece.

Bodossaki Foundation supports activities and takes initiatives aimed at creating opportunities for equitable access to healthcare services, upgrading the medical and healthcare services provided by public hospitals and strengthening scientific research in the field of health. Donations made by the Foundation have helped construct full hospital units and clinics and offer medical equipment to most Greek public hospitals.

“With the external lift, we feel completely safe on the second floor of our Centre.”

Katerina (32)

“The bicycle is terrific! Soon I’ll be taking part in races!”

Giorgos (25 years old)

“No words can express our gratitude to Bodossaki Foundation for its support, which it has manifested over the years and is still manifesting in many diverse ways, as well as for its trust in our work and its recognition of it.”

Daphne Economou, President, Cerebral Palsy Greece/ Open Door Governing Board

“On behalf of the Medical Department, we would like to warmly thank you for your donation of the special bicycle. This particular donation is of special value to us, because it assists us in our effort to create a model gym for people with cerebral palsy here in the ‘Open Door’ Centre.”

Evi Mitsiokapa, Physiatrist, Cerebral Palsy Greece/Open Door

“The external lift, apart from the convenience it offers on a daily basis to our personnel and to the people in our care, allows us to respond promptly and with complete safety to any emergency which might occur.”
