Applications for the Bodossaki Foundation’s Scholarships for Postgraduate Studies, Postdoctoral Research and Visiting Research Scientists are now open
Alexandra shares her passion for Bio-entrepreneurship with her fellow students at the Karolinska Institute, Sweden, while Sophia deepens her knowledge of Microbiology and enjoys the multicultural academic environment at the University of Sorbonne. On the other side of the Atlantic, at MIT, Thodoris focuses on Machine Learning applications with a social impact, whether it be diagnosing diseases or energy sustainability, as part of his Master’s in Business Analytics. All of them received scholarships from Bodossaki Foundation last September and went on to pursue the studies they had dreamed of. Now, a new cohort of candidates can prepare for their own next steps. Applications for scholarships for the 2026-2027 academic year start today and relate to:
- Postgraduate Studies in Greece and abroad through the 54th Regular Scholarships Programme
- Postdoctoral Research in the framework of the “Stamatis G. Mantzavinos” Memorial Postdoctoral Scholarships Programme
- Short-term visits to Universities or Research Centres abroad to study international research trends, enrich scientific research and promote international networking for Research Scientists.
With over half a century of service, through its Scholarship Programmes the Bodossaki Foundation continues to receive and manage the resources of third parties (institutions, other foundations and private individuals) which wish to grant scholarships to outstanding students. Indicatively, this year’s scholarships include the “Elizabeth Fotiou Fotinellis – Ioannis Dimitriou Kritikos Scholarships”, at least two scholarships for postgraduate studies in the field of Life Sciences, which are announced and awarded by the Bodossaki Foundation and funded by a private donor.
Candidate Profile – Application Deadlines
Academic excellence is a key criterion in our candidate selection process, but not the only one. At the heart of the Foundation’s philosophy is a commitment to supporting equal opportunities in access to education. Consequently, as a criterion, our evaluation of the young candidates’ financial wherewithal carries the same weight as their performance. The personality of the candidates is also evaluated in tandem through a one-on-one interview.
The 54th Postgraduate Scholarships Programme, whose deadline for applications is February 24, 2026, is addressed at graduates of, and final-year undergraduates in, all and every Faculty and Department at Institutions of Higher Education who wish to pursue Postgraduate Studies in the Life Sciences, Applied Sciences / Technology and Social Sciences.
The “Stamatis G. Mantzavinos” Memorial Postdoctoral Scholarships Programme has been supporting postdoctoral research in the Fundamental Sciences, Life Sciences, Applied Sciences and Technology without interruption since 2008; it awards four scholarships to Ph.D. holders for the conducting of research in Greece or abroad. The deadline for applications is 17 March 2026.
The Scholarships Programme for Visiting Research Scientists encourages new collaborations at an international level, giving young researchers the opportunity to forge links with research centres abroad, to acquaint themselves with cutting-edge methodologies, and to return to Greece with experience that can boost scientific progress along with its social benefits. The Programme provides short-term scholarships up to six months in duration to researchers working in Greece in the Fundamental Sciences, Life Sciences and Applied Sciences/Technology. The deadline for applications is 31 March 2026.
The Academic Fields covered by the Scholarships
The Bodossaki Foundation’s goal is to support young scientists who wish to contribute to the world of tomorrow with their work and ideas. The fellowships cover a broad range of contemporary academic fields—from biomedical technology, molecular medicine and bio-innovation to machine learning, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology and natural resource management—, as well as the management of businesses, institutions and non-profit organizations. The academic fields are detailed in the Scholarships Programmes’ call for applications for the 2026-2027 academic year, available here.
In the words of the President of Bodossaki Foundation, Athina Dessypri: “Each new scholarship cycle constitutes another step in our collective efforts towards a more hopeful future. By supporting our scholars’ studies and research, we are cultivating the soil in which new ideas and scientific solutions with a beneficial impact on society can take root and flourish. We are especially pleased that each new iteration of our Scholarships Programme sees more individuals, institutions and foundations placing their trust in our work and joining us in supporting the next generation of scientists.”
