SustainHER: Promotion of Sustainable Employment for Vulnerable Women at risk of Poverty and Social Exclusion

The project aims to protect and promote access to sustainable employment opportunities for socio-economically vulnerable women through skill-building and vocational training. Additionally, the project conducts research on sustainable employment for vulnerable women on both national and European levels, while examining the current conditions in the field of lifelong learning and vocational training for socio-economically marginalized women.

Target groups:

The immediate target group includes Greek and third-country national women aged 18 and above residing in Thessaloniki or the wider region, facing one or more of the following vulnerabilities:

  •  Serious living and survival issues
  •  Single mothers
  • Low cognitive levels or low professional qualifications
  • Lack of (recorded) work experience or long-term unemployment
  • Facing social discrimination and an increased risk of social exclusion
  • Victims or potential victims of gender-based violence

Activities: 

  • Supported 50 socially and economically vulnerable women from 20 countries with job counseling, tax services, and personalized employment/skills action plans.
  • Organized 4 group sessions on labor rights and work culture in Greece.
  • Facilitated upskilling: 15 prepared for B2 English certification (8 passed), 6 took Greek language courses, 16 completed vocational training in high-demand sectors.
  • Enabled employment: 17 women found jobs during the project.
  • Conducted comparative research on sustainable employment and vocational training for TCN women in Greece and the EU, presented at 2 international conferences and published in 2 academic proceedings.
  • Promoted social and professional integration by addressing systemic barriers and advocating for education, employment, and equality rights.
