The project responds to the growing need to defend freedom of speech and media pluralism, and to preserve an open democratic public space. At a time when Civil Society is often marginalized and independent voices are being silenced or diminished, the project aims to empower institutions, citizens and journalists to participate actively, safely and on equal terms in the public discourse. The project aims to strengthen the voice of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and the independent media through awareness-raising, education, policy dialogue, documentation and advocacy activities. The project includes the creation of a Citizens’ Media Observatory, the podcast series “Open Microphones”, a training Hackathon for young journalists, and consultative forums with the participation of institutions and stakeholders.
Target groups:
- CSOs (national and local)
- Independent journalists and media
- Young/student journalists
- Active citizens
- Decision-makers (politicians, public authorities)
- Institutions and regulatory bodies
