64 new scholarships awarded by the Bodossaki Foundation for postgraduate studies, postdoctoral research, and scientific visits abroad
At Yale University, Konstantinos is beginning his master’s degree in Environmental Health Sciences, focusing on the impacts of climate change and pollution on public health, while Alexandros at Lund University will be studying Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation. Anna at the University of Colorado, Boulder will specialise in Aerospace Engineering and Space Technologies, and Konstantina at TU Delft in Materials Science and Engineering, focusing on the development of advanced and sustainable materials. Tasos will harness Artificial Intelligence in Business Analytics at UC Berkeley, while Manos will study Artificial Intelligence from a Legal perspective at the University of Oxford. “For us, the scholarship is not only vital support for our next academic steps, but above all a valuable vote of confidence and trust in our potential,” says Anna Maria, shortly before commencing her postgraduate studies in Pharmaceutical Sciences at ETH Zurich.
With these new scholarships, sixty-four young scientists join the community of more than 2,800 Bodossaki Foundation scholars. They continue their journey towards scientific progress, innovation, and social contribution, pursuing advanced studies in cutting-edge fields at leading universities in Greece and abroad.
The new scholarships pertain to postgraduate studies, postdoctoral research, and short-term research visits, framed within the Bodossaki Foundation’s three Scholarship Programmes: the 54th Regular Scholarships Programme, which provides scholarships for postgraduate studies; the “Stamatis G. Mantzavinos” Memorial Postdoctoral Research Scholarships Programme; and the Scholarship Programme for Visiting Research Scientists active in Greece, enabling them to undertake short-term scientific research at universities and research centres abroad.
Within the framework of its Scholarship Programmes, the Bodossaki Foundation also manages and leverages donations from individuals, organisations, and philanthropic foundations wishing to provide meaningful support for educational and research opportunities for young people through the Foundation’s expertise and meritocratic management mechanisms. Specifically, the collaboration with the Social and Cultural Affairs Welfare Foundation (KIKPE) continues, funding scholarships for postgraduate studies in the field of Biomedical Sciences, as well as with the Hellenic Parliament, which also funds postgraduate scholarships. The “Elisavet Fotiou Fotinelli – Ioannis Dimitriou Kritikos Scholarships” will cover postgraduate studies in the field of Life Sciences, while the “Savvas Parastatidis Donation Scholarship” will fund postgraduate studies in Applied Sciences and Technology. For the 5th consecutive year, “The Scholars’ Scholarship” initiative funds a postgraduate scholarship by pooling donations from previous Bodossaki Foundation scholars. Finally, this year the Bodossaki Foundation will award the “Scholarship in Memory of Frank Grosveld” for postgraduate studies in Life Sciences, honouring the memory of the recently deceased, internationally renowned molecular biologist and member of the Foundation’s Excellence Award Committee.
The candidate selection process is based on academic achievement, integrity, values, and personal motivation for growth, as demonstrated through the evaluation of the application and the one-on-one interview. At the same time, it takes into account candidates’ financial circumstances, safeguarding equal opportunities in access to education and giving priority to those in greatest need.
For the Bodossaki Foundation, the award of a scholarship marks the beginning of an ongoing journey shared with the Foundation, which continues within the Scholars’ Community. Through a dynamic environment for networking, learning, and collaboration, the Foundation continues to foster its scholars’ progress and encourage their ongoing contribution to society.
