The project “Where Life doesn’t get old: Our stories from Evros” focuses on the Prefecture of Evros, an area which is facing acute population decline and an ageing demographic.
Specifically, the project seeks to implement an intervention model that provides psychosocial support and holistically addresses the needs of the residents of Evros’s far-flung, ageing communities.
Its actions include:
- Providing integrated and tailored health and mental health services
- Developing the digital literacy skills of older adults (using mobile phones/tablets, the internet, e-services)
- Developing networks to promote physical and mental wellbeing through group activities focused on low-impact exercise, nutrition, creative expression, resilience building, leisure management
- Staging an awareness-raising campaign entitled “Life does not age” including podcasts, videos, social media and intergenerational cooperation actions.
The project is implemented by the Society of Social Psychiatry P. Sakellaropoulos in the framework of the Thematic Grants Programme for Healthy Ageing, with the support of the Bodossaki Foundation, the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation and the TIMA Charitable Foundation.
