The HER VOICE project focuses on preventing gender-based violence in mental health settings in Epirus. It reaches a group rarely included in such initiatives. People who live in residential mental health facilities or use other mental health services face greater risks because of stigma, reliance on institutions and limited access to information.
The project takes a rights-based, trauma-informed approach that uses storytelling as a tool for learning and empowerment. It helps participants understand their rights, personal boundaries and consent, and equips professionals to recognise and respond safely to signs of violence.
Target Groups
- 60 people of any gender who live in, stay at or use the services of mental health facilities in Epirus
- 40 mental health professionals, social workers, carers and facility staff
- Mental health facilities and social care organisations in Epirus
Key activities
- Co-design the project methodology with a Lived Experience Advisory Group of 4–6 members.
- Deliver experiential workshops on storytelling and rights for 60 people in mental health settings.
- Train 40 mental health and social care professionals.
- Develop an educational toolkit, a short online learning module for professionals and a referral protocol. All three resources will remain available after the project ends.
