CLICKSAFE: Digital Gendered Relations and Empowerment in the University Community

Call: Preventing and Combatting Gender-Based Cyber Violence
Project Duration: 12 months
Budget: €59.759,51
Types of grants: Large-scale project
Country: Greece
Location: Attica

The project aims to prevent and respond to gender-based cyber violence among university students, with particular attention to emerging challenges linked to artificial intelligence. It connects personal empowerment and peer support with the development of institutional tools for universities. The intervention responds to underreporting and the need for clearer university prevention and support procedures.

Target groups

Students in public higher education institutions, particularly women, people with feminine gender identities and those facing intersectional discrimination. University staff will also participate in the research. Pilot activities focus on five Athens institutions, while institutional tools are intended more widely for equality committees, student welfare services, university administrations and higher education policymakers.

Core activities

  • Conduct a primary needs assessment with a questionnaire targeting 300 students and 4 focus groups, 2 with students and 2 with university staff, examining the phenomenon and institutional readiness.
  • Develop 1 educational resource package and 1 digital Womanifesto creative expression tool with at least 25 digital cards and at least 6 guiding prompts.
  • Deliver 3 three-hour online awareness sessions and 3 five-hour in-person experiential workshops, targeting at least 120 students from 5 Athens higher education institutions.
  • Engage 10 student ambassadors, 2 per institution, to strengthen peer support and sustain the intervention.
  • Exchange expertise with the European University Cyprus in 2 phases and develop 1 institutional toolkit for preventing, identifying and responding to gender-based cyber violence in universities.
  • Hold 1 open closing event with online streaming and Greek Sign Language interpretation, and present the project at 2 scientific meetings.
