In 1979, immediately after Bodossakis’ death, the Foundation decided to carry out a large public infrastructure project in his memory. In consultation with the Government, it was decided to create a modern general hospital in Western Macedonia, to be named after Bodossakis.

Construction work began in 1982 and the Foundation handed the project over to the Ministry of Health and Welfare in 1989, after the hospital building and the outpatient clinics had been completed. “Bodossakeio” Hospital of Ptolemaida was finally inaugurated officially 1992. The total costs covered by the Foundation for this project amounted to €27,400,000 in current prices.
